Hoffmitz Milken Center for Typography

Founded by Lowell in 2014 at ArtCenter College of Design, the Hoffmitz Milken Center for Typography is a living tribute to Lowell’s late wife, Leah Hoffmitz Milken—a revered typographer and educator. Driven by his passion to honor her legacy and advance the art and science of typography, Lowell established HMCT as a global hub for research and innovation. Inspired by Leah's excellence, the Center fosters innovation, preserves typographic history, and nurtures creativity. Offering access to a world-class archive and state-of-the-art facilities, HMCT embodies Lowell's commitment to shaping the future of visual communication and pushing the boundaries of design.

Establishing the Center is the best way to honor Leah’s memory as well as her extraordinary knowledge about typography, her deep passion and dedication to her students, and her commitment to give back to a field that she thoroughly cherished.
