Founded by Lowell Milken in 1990, the Milken Archive of American Jewish Music reflects his lifelong passion for music and deep commitment to preserving the rich tapestry of Jewish cultural heritage in America. Inspired by his early love of music, piano studies, and cherished synagogue melodies, Lowell recognized the vast yet underappreciated diversity of music inspired by the American Jewish experience. His passion transformed the Archive from a recording project into a comprehensive initiative with over 600 recorded works and 800 interviews. Lowell envisions it as a living project that not only honors the past but also inspires future generations to explore, learn, and create.
