Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes

Founded by Lowell in 2007, the Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes stems from his deep belief that history is shaped not only by well-known figures but also by countless unsung heroes who quietly made a profound impact. This passion drives LMC to connect students and educators with these hidden stories through project-based learning, encouraging students to research, document, and share these remarkable lives. With the Discovery Award, ArtEffect, a Fellowship program for educators, and its museum in Fort Scott, Kansas, LMC has reached over 3 million students globally, inspiring future generations to lead with courage and compassion.

The discovery of unsung heroes reveals that history is not a done deal. Past, present, and future are available for shaping; and through learning about these individuals, we can join together in a shared purpose.
